Back To The Start

Back To The Start is short film, by film-maker Johnny Kelly, depicts the life of a farmer as he slowly turns his family farm into an industrial animal factory before seeing the errors of his ways and opting for a more sustainable future. Both the film and the soundtrack were commissioned by Chipotle to emphasize the importance of developing a sustainable food system.

Local farm to table is a wonderful thing emerging.  Look for places like this in your home town and for local farmers you can support.

Eggs we tried this week were from the Swiss Villa farm in Pennsylvania.  I used to recycle my old cartons to my friend Sharron who would bring me fresh eggs from her hens.  Alas I don't live near Sharron anymore but still find ways to get eggs from cage free hens.

I saw a truck haling chickens recently.  Nothing like imagery to solidify something. 

Horizon is a large dairy farm whose products are readily accessible in most places.  A noticeable difference in products like this.  Indeed what a difference to go back to a natural approach; no injected hormones, no preservatives, no small cages, and a culture of care.
